Recognizing the power flowers have to influence mood and enhance spaces, the business is dedicated to crafting thoughtfully arranged bouquets that evoke emotion and create a lasting ambiance. This project aims to explore the brand design process, blending aesthetics with strategic messaging. Through Phool & Kismet, I delve into the art of visual storytelling, highlighting its significant role in shaping a compelling and memorable brand identity.

Role

Researcher & Graphic Designer

Duration

1 month

Tools

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Figma

Goal

To communicate a visual story of the brand.

The goal of this project is to bring the brand’s story to life through a captivating visual experience. By carefully choosing design elements, colors, typography, and imagery, I want to create something that not only reflects the heart of the brand but also connects with the audience on a deeper level. This project highlights the power of visual storytelling, where every detail works together to express the brand’s identity, values, and dreams.

Understanding the Business

Phool & Kismet draws inspiration from the rich beauty of the Urdu language.

Phool پھول (pronounced as fool, with a soft "ph" like an "f" sound) means “flower.” It's a common word used to refer to any type of flower, symbolizing beauty, delicacy, and nature. The word carries a poetic and cultural significance in Urdu literature and everyday conversation.

Kismet قسمت (pronounced as kiss-met) means "fate" or "destiny." It carries the same connotation of predetermined events or circumstances that are believed to be beyond one’s control. The word is used to discuss the concept of destiny or the idea that certain outcomes are written or destined to happen.

Target Audience

Primary Audience:

  • Adults (18-35) who love aesthetically pleasing flower bouquets

  • People who are interested in gifting a friend or loved one with flowers

Secondary Audience:

  • Customers who love high-quality products

  • Customers who care about supporting local and small businesses

Theme & Style

I created a mood board that conceptualizes the brand style and aimed ambiance. I wanted the brand to be inspired by soft-neutral colors, nature, earth, greens, and of-course flowers.

Color Palette

After exploring the theme and style, I utilized the mood board to create a color palette that encompasses the brand. The palette will assist in developing visually appealing mockups.

Sketches

Designing the logo was an enjoyable process. I created three distinct variations, each versatile enough to be used across different brand touchpoints, including packaging, vases, and cards. The logos maintain a minimalist style, aligning perfectly with the overall brand aesthetics.

Final Mockup

Utilizing Adobe CC (inDesign & Photoshop) and Figma, I developed visually appealing mock-ups for Phool & Kismet, focusing on packing diesng, cards, tags, accessories, and logos.

Key Takeaways

Challenges

One of the most challenges aspects was navigating Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. This experience taught me how crucial and beneficial it is to explore other design tools as well.

Lessons Learned

After focusing mainly on the UX design process, it was enjoyable to take a turn and work on the brand identity process. Additionally, discovering the brand’s identity was extremely helpful when crafting sketches and mockups.
